How to commission a portrait:
I aim to make the commission process relaxed, positive and informative. I want you to feel pride in your commissioned artwork and a greater appreciation for fine art in general.
To begin the process, email me at candacexmoore@gmail.com.
We’ll start with a no-obligation phone interview to discuss your needs and to answer any questions about my process. If you want to move forward, I will provide a good-faith cost estimate and a written agreement of terms.
Next, we meet at your chosen location to discuss your ideas and preferences. During this meeting I photograph the sitter in various poses and settings.
Back in the studio, I develop several portrait concepts from which you select the final design.
Based on the chosen design, I create a small full-color study for your approval. This study reflects the appearance of the full-size portrait, and gives you the opportunity to make changes before the final painting begins.
Generally, I complete the portrait within 2 months after approval of the color study. A 40% deposit is collected at the photo shoot, and the balance is due when the portrait is accepted. Framing is not included.
Prices range from $600 up, depending on complexity and size. I will provide you some examples, with prices, to help you decide on portrait type, which can range from a “single head” portrait up to 2 or more sitters shown in full figure.
Finally, the portrait is not done until you are happy. The satisfaction of my clients is very important to me.
